An asphalt mix plant is a crucial road-building piece of equipment that is used to produce a superior quality hot mix asphalt involved in setting up highways, urban roads, airports, among other building work. Modern asphalt batch mix plants have the latest available technology to ensure consistency in the mixing process and the accurate measurement of the aggregate or the asphalt mix. These plants are available in various capacities and configurations that can suit the requirements of both small and large-scale projects. The asphalt batch mix plant is desirable in projects that need mixed formulations, whereas the asphalt drum mix plant is better where volume production is preferred. As the construction of infrastructures increases, the necessity of effective asphalt plants is continuously being demanded, making them an imperative aspect of road construction globally.

Functions of Asphalt mixing plant
Storage of Raw Materials and Feeding
The stored stones and sands of varied sizes are loaded into different bins and fed into the plant by a feeder system in the right quantity to maintain a uniform supply of the material.
Aggregate Drying & Heating
Wet aggregates are dried and heated in one rotating drum in which moisture is removed and the strength of bonding is enhanced by using a burner.
Screening & Separation
The size is used to separate the aggregates through vibrating screens and place them in hot bins to ensure proper grading.
Weighing & Proportioning
Automated systems weigh aggregates, bitumen and fillers with precision to ensure the quality of asphalt.
Mixing of Materials
In a batch plant, materials are mixed in batches, whereas in a drum plant, it is mixed continuously to produce a uniform asphalt mix.
Bitumen Heating & Storage
Bitumen is kept in hot storage tanks and sprayed at the right temperature to ensure even coats of aggregates.
Dust & Pollution Control
Air pollution is collected by dust collectors and scrubbers, making them environmentally friendly and their operation cleaner.
Final Mix Storage & Dispatch
Hot mix asphalt is stored in silos in order to maintain heat and is then taken to construction sites via trucks.
